How to Use an Acne Diet to Clear Up Your Skin

An acne diet sounds like a wonderful idea. We’ve all heard that chocolate gives you pimples. We almost all have. As a result, it does not seem so far-fetched that what you eat could prevent acne instead of cause it.

However, an acne diet can be a hard thing to develop. Its very personal because it has to be based on an individuals responses to food. There are rules to follow, but progress is usually by trial and error. Observe and make note of any changes in your skin. Make note of any changes. You might even want to take pictures using a digital camera once or twice a week. At the time your skin clears stick the diet plan you were following.

Here are a few instructions to help get you started on an acne diet:

* Take in a lot more protein - Many dermatologists are under the belief that protein is connected with clearer skin. The reason for this belief is because protein has an enzyme that will limit the production of oils. Oily skin tends to be more prone to breakouts.

* 2. Avoid carbohydrates - You do not need to cut out carbs completely. But you should keep them limited to about 40 percent of your diet. This is because carbohydrates can stimulate oil production. This is why junk food has a reputation for causing acne. Actually it is just that junk food is high in carbs.

* Try to drink green tea - If at all possible try to drink the real stuff. The kind of green tea that you brew is the best kind. But, if you really don’t like it, the natural green tea drinks will work. Green tea holds back androgen production. Androgen is a hormone that will wreak havoc on your skin.

* Try to limit the amount of salt you intake - Salt most always contains iodine. This being the reason table salt can be called “iodized salt.” Iodine can be one of the biggest inflammatory agents in people with acne.

In addition to watching your diet, you should carefully watch what you put on your face. If you currently have acne, you are more aware than most of what is contained in your beauty products. You should only use moisturizers without oil and natural and organic skin care products. These are least likely to cause a breakout. You might want to start buying mineral makeup, that is if you wear makeup. If you want to enhance your acne diet and reduce breakouts, you may want to try mineral makeup.
