Protein in Muscle Building

If you have ever spent more than five minutes listening to two body builders whether professional or amateurs talk to each other, the chances are good that you have heard them talking about protein. If you take notice of the body building exercise world you will find protein and people talking about the importance of protein everywhere you turn. So what is the deal with all the protein and why is it so important?

Firstly, you need to know exactly what protein is and what it means for you. Protein is the material that your body will use to build. Think of it likeĀ  mortar used to build brick buildings and things like that. Without it protein, you will never be able to build muscle effectively. Your muscles have to literally feed on the protein, and skin, nails, bones, hair, and connective tissue also are all made from the wonders of the protein. Protein in the human body does have antibodies, and will also include hormones that are actually vital to your health.

You will probably already know that your body is actually made up from 70% water. Are you also aware that the protein is the next substance in large amounts in your body? At least 20% of your total body weight will come from the protein inside your own body, and at least 70% of that protein is located in your muscles. If you want to gain weight, you have to take in more calories than you actually burn in any given day or time frame. In order to gain muscle rather than fat, you have to take in more protein than your body uses up.

This is why so many body builders use protein on a very regular basis. If you are not taking in enough protein to feed your muscles, not only do they not get any bigger, they may also begin to get weaker and as a result, start to shrink. Everybody needs protein to survive, but body builders must restock their bodys particular supply of protein about every three hours or so, which is why the majority of them eat six, small and healthy meals a day. They do this because research has shown that when we exercise it atually increases the bdoys need for protein.
