The Physical Yoga: Bikram Yoga

Yoga can help a person achieve better health, physical well being and also spiritual bliss though there are a number of different types of yoga to choose from each of which provide various benefits, and among them is one that is known as Bikram’s Yoga, which is very physical. Originally from Kolkatta, India, Bikram Yoga is named after its founder Bikram Choudhry and is considered to be much more physical than other forms of yoga.

Bikram Yoga started after Bikram had become a master in the Hatha Yoga and had opened up a number of training centers with his guru master Bishnu Gosh.

Heated Room

Essentially, when performing Bikram Yoga poses, a person has to be in a heated room where the temperature can be as high as ninety to hundred degrees which is necessary to warm up the body that in turn facilitates performing various postures. Since each posture is performed two times, the Bikram Yoga class can take ninety minutes and incorporate up to twenty-six different postures.

Since it requires the user to be quite physically fit, Bikram Yoga is not necessarily suitable for everyone and it is recommended that you attain the proper levels of fitness before doing this class. Before you try it for yourself, it is a smart idea to research and learn as much about Bikram Yoga as you can before you try it.

Bikram Yoga is very popular with celebrities and has been called “hot yoga,” as it makes the body more flexible and works to combine the spiritual and physical selves together. It consists of twenty-six asanas or postures and there are also two breathing exercises as well, and before beginning this form of yoga you should ensure that your stomach is not full of food and that you should also have first drunk a glass of water.

In order to release tension in the muscles, meditation and breathing exercises begin the class with breathing through the nose rather than the mouth. The heated environment of Bikram Yoga helps to cleanse the body of toxins, encourages sweat and makes you feel better as you work on performing your postures.
